07-10-09 31106 made it's first recorded visit into Platform 1 on the 7th October 2009 with the 4Z07 Exeter Riverside - Didcot via Taunton and Minehead! The loco has recently been repainted into BR Blue and looks superb in its new livery (Photo: 50006 Neptune)

29-09-09 Although not brilliant quaility becuase it was taken on a mobile phone, this image at least illustrates 66732 entering Platform 1 to collect 66725 at Taunton. This image was captured on the 29th September at 23:30. 66732 having arrived light engine from Peterborough

26-09-09 Just days after visiting Platform 1 for the first time, 66725 found itself back in the bay on the 25th after failing with an oil pump problem. The loco is seen on the 26th September stabled against the buffer stops

15-09-09 66598 and 66585 made a welcome visit to Platform 1 on the 15th Septemeber having returned light engine from Westbury. Both locomotives were stabled in the bay platform overnight before returning to Fairwater Yard next morning

11-06-09 66730 made it's first visit to Platform 1 on the 9th of June 2009. Having just worked D1062 from Kidderminster through to Williton (WSR), the locomotive returned to Taunton (Platform 1) where it stabled all day on the 10th. On the morning of the 11th the loco was added to the consist of the 4L31 (A GBRF Working) Fairwater - Whitemoor Yard with 66701 leading the train.

16-04-09 47818 spent an afternoon and overnight spell in Platform 1 in between duties for Cotswold Rail/ Advenza on the 16th April 2009. The battle bus has seen better days and now sports part of it's former 'One Anglia' livery hence with hath been removed! (Photo: John White)

28-03-09 Making it's first appearance for the class in Platform 1, 142001 makes a very rear sight on the 28th March 2009. The unit had worked South the previous day from Glasgow Works, but didn't quite make Exeter. It stabled in Platform 1 overnight before departing for Exeter on the 28th of March at 07:15

20-02-09 57602 became the first Class 57/6 to enter Platform1 on the 20th Feb 2009. Working with 47375 (although 47375 was swtiched off) the pair spend the night in Platform 1 working a stock move North from Laira.

13-01-09 Since November 2008 Platform 1 has been rather empty. However on the 13th January 47375 became the first loco of 2009 to visit us in the Platform. It was on route from Gloucester and stabled at Taunton overnight before continuing to Meldon Quarry the next day to collect a Class 73 for onward transit. 47375 is seen here shortly after arriving for it's overnight stay

05-11-08 31285 is fired up in preperation to work the 4Z08 20:50 Taunton to Didcot Yard

04-11-08 31285 made another visit to Platform 1 at Taunton on the 4th November 2008. The loco worked the 4Z08 17:17 Didcot - Taunton Network Rail Test Train. Arriving at 20:10 it stabled in Platform 1 for the night before returning to Didcot on the 5th.

27-08-08 153305 became the first ever Class 153 to use Platform 1 at Taunton on the 27th August. The unit failed with a braking problem on the 2C43 06.46 BTM - PZ (due out of TN at 07.40). 07-06-08 57006 became the First Class 57 to visit Platform 1. In a Surprise move overnight 57006 (Operated by Advenza Freight) worked the 0Z45 0105 Cardiff Tidal to Taunton, where the loco stabled in Platfrom 1. It stayed throughout Satruday 7th and Sunday 8th June

19-05-08 66603 & 66613 became the 14th and 15th locos of 2008 to visit Platform 1. The pair had worked the 0Z48 light engine move from Kingsland Road to Fairwater Yard, but stabled in Platform 1!

07-05-08 47812 became the 13th locomotive to use Platform 1 in 2008! Having been bought down to replace the stricken 47769 the loco is seen stabled in Platfrom 1

06-05-08 47769 'Resolve' is seen in Platform 1, the loco was hired from Rivera Trains for Serco driving training runs in the South West and Wales. However it's former Virgin Heritage came home to roose when the loco was declared a failure at Taunton. 47812 has been sent for to complete the weeks training and tow 47769 back for rapair.

02-05-08 47375 worked light engine to Taunton from St Phillips Marsh after working North from Laira with a stock move. Quite why it came and stabled in Platform 1 we are not sure, as it worked straight back to Bristol later on the 2nd of May!

01-05-07 Taunton's Platform 1 has seen a lot of use during the first part of 2008, On the 1st of May the Platform played host to it's first Barbie Liveried GBRF Class 66. 66725 had earlier worked a stock move to Long Marston and returned light engine to Taunton in order to stable. During the early hours of the 2nd the loco was added to the regular GBRF flow from Fairwater Yard to Peterborough, it joined 66705 to work the 4E31 06:30 Fairwater Yard - Peterborough old sleepers. 17-04-08 47815 'Great Western' was used by Serco (hired from Riviera) for a range of driver route learning trips. The loco arrived into Platform 1 udring the early hours of the 17th and spent the rest of the week working from Taunton.

08-04-08 31233 makes it's first visit to Platform 1, with 31601. The pair stabled in the Platform between operational runs to Minehead and then departing to Bristol Barton Hill on the 9th.

10-03-08 66952 arrived into Platform 1 on the 9th March 2008 working light engine from Westbury after use on weekend engineering works. The loco stabled in Platform 1 on the Sunday afternoon and stayed most of Monday before heading back to Westbury in order to haul the 6C17 Westbury Cement - Moorswater.

23-02-08 66722 'Sir Edward Watkin' in Metronet Colours only visited Platform 1 in Taunton for jus to 1 Hour. This image was captured by Jeff Treece. The loco had worked a Derby - Laira stock move earlier in the day, and was returning from Laira to Wembley. 12-02-08 After the failure of 37606 on the Network Rail Test Train at Exeter, 37038 & 37612 were sent South to help out. 37612 replaced 37606 on the Network Rail Test Train, while 37038 hauled 37606 back North. 37038&606 then recessed in Platform 1 at Taunton for one night before heading back to Crewe next morning. By this point 37606 had been fixed which makes you wonder .....was it all worth it?!?!.....At Taunton Trains we think YES!

19-11-07 47805 worked the 0Z47 Old Oak Common - Fairwater yard in order to swap locomotives with one of the Colas 47s from the Cornish RHTT. On arrival at Taunton 47805 ended up in Platform 1 after there was no where else to leave it! 47805 is operated by Rivirra Trains and named 'Talisman'

01-10-07 37607 stabled in Platform 1 overnight on the 1st October having worked a crew training run in the local area for Serco.

It's thought it could have been as long ago as 1986 when we last had a pair of Class 31's parked in this position!

17-09-05 66176 resides in Platform 1 having arrived from Fairwater Yard. However this was not the first visit of the Class to Platform 1. On the 30th October 2000 66026 was working 0V95 to Exeter Riverside and under caution was allowed to proceed beyond Taunton (Due to serious flooding further South) the loco was asked to check the condition of the track. 66026 only made it as far as Norton Fwarren where water was already above track level. 60071 16/03/03 made the very rare appearance of a type five in the bay. The loco had been involved with engineering work at Highbridge, and had worked back to Taunton during the late afternoon. However problems with driver hours saw a crew change required. As the loco had worked down into Fairwater Yard to run round. It was bought up to Platform 1 to save the driver walking back to the station. The relief driver then arrived at approx 17:00 and took the loco back to it's train. It later departed for Westbury! 7356 stands in the Bay, posing with the old luggage trollys. Interesting story attached to this photo is that 47356 still exists! 47356 is now in fact 57001! It emerged from Brush Loughborough in 1998 as re-designed loco which still for the 21st Century it's body at least is still in service on the railway.
